Data Center Cooling and Water Conservation
Data centers produce large amounts of heat that require cooling solutions to maintain temperatures to optimize performance and profitability. AirJoule® can convert waste heat from data center operations and convert it into distilled water that can be used to further improve data center cooling.
AirJoule® can take low-grade waste heat from air-cooled and liquid-cooled data centers to improve energetics and water production across a wide range of climate zones.
- Water vapor in the air is captured by AirJoule system. AirJoule can effectively capture water vapor in conditions as low as 20% relative humidity.
- Dehumidified air is released as an output of the AirJoule device that can provide significant value for customers requiring energy efficient dehumidification.
- AirJoule redirects some of the heat created by data centers towards our atmospheric water capture chambers
- The residual heat is sent to rooftop chiller unit, but at a lower temperature than initially generated through data center processing. This lower thermal cooling demand reduces overall operational expenses to create value.
- Liquid water is released during from the saturated sorbent via our patented thermal-pressure swing regeneration process. This water can be provided to evaporative cooling units to further improve energy efficiency of the data center cooling system.
- The return line brings the cooled coolant back to the data center to be used to provide cooling to the chips and servers.
AirJoule can enable a wide range of next generation data centers designed to improve water utilization:
Water Generating Data Centers
All heat from data centers can be used to drive a campus of AirJoule® units capable of producing >10,000 gallons of water per hour to be used for local and regional water use.
Net-Zero Data Centers
AirJoule® systems are balanced with high-efficiency water-based cooling systems to enable water use neutrality across wide variety of climate zones.
Water-Sustained Data Centers
In water scarce regions, AirJoule® can be used to provide water for onsite operations (example: humidification or personnel needs) while maintaining water-free cooling systems.
